Tooth whitening is a safe, cost effective and proven treatment used to lighten teeth. There are different methods of tooth whitening available which all provide excellent results.
In-surgery tooth whitening is a procedure that is done in the dental chair. A protective barrier is applied to your gums or a rubber shield is placed to protect the oral tissues. A whitening agent is painted on to the teeth and a high powered LED light is used to accelerate the process. The results are instant and often dramatic.
Home tray whitening requires impressions of your teeth so custom fitted soft mouthguard trays can be constructed. A small amount of whitening gel is placed into the reservoir of the tray and is worn regularly (for 45 minutes to 3 hours while you are watching TV at night) until the desired level of lightening has been achieved. This usually takes one to two weeks.
